The government has updated the monitoring of new crown vaccination. In the past week as of January 16, the Department of Health has received a total of 60 reports of abnormal incidents involving people who have been vaccinated against the new crown vaccine. The death report of the new crown vaccination in the past few days involved two women aged 73 and 95, and a 59-year-old man, and there was no clinical evidence that the cases were caused by the vaccine.

As of January 16, the Expert Committee on Clinical Event Evaluation of COVID-19 Vaccines has concluded that 38 deaths were not causally related to vaccination, and initially believed that 15 cases were not related to vaccination, and 5 cases still need to obtain more information for evaluation.
The Expert Committee believes that no unusual phenomenon has been found so far, and will continue to closely monitor the situation and collect data for evaluation.
In addition, as of 8 p.m. on January 16, Hong Kong citizens had received a total of more than 10.51 million doses of the new crown vaccine.
About 5.13 million people have received at least one dose of the vaccine, accounting for 76.2% of the Hong Kong population aged 12 or above.
A total of 6,727 abnormal incident reports (0.06% of total vaccination doses) were received by the DH.
Regarding the deaths involving vaccinated persons, including 58 cases involving vaccinated persons who had been vaccinated within 14 days before their death (0.0006% of the total vaccination dose), no deaths were shown to be related to vaccination.

According to the HA, from December 20, 2021 to January 16, 2022, the death rate without vaccination record was 150.8 per 100,000 people, while the death rate with vaccination record was per 100,000 people. There were 9.7 cases per 100,000 people, and the overall mortality rate was similar to the same period in the past three years.
Among them, the death rate of acute stroke or acute myocardial infarction without vaccination record was 7.4 per 100,000 people, and the death rate of similar deaths with vaccination record was 0.8 per 100,000 people.
In addition, the rate of miscarriage cases without vaccination was 33.3 per 100,000 people, while the rate of miscarriages with vaccination records was 11.6 per 100,000 people.
Based on a statistical analysis of the above figures, there is no evidence that vaccination increases the risk of death or miscarriage among those who receive it.
