The rooms are changing, but the business isn't: the Gautinger optician family with Klaus Sieber, Rosemarie Sieber, Josef Sieber, Rasso Sieber and Tizian Sieber (from left) are prepared to give up their business on Bahnhofstrasse - they're around the corner prepared, nothing will change for customers except the address.

The change on Gautinger Bahnhofstraße continues: The property on the corner of Bergstraße is for sale as a building site for residential development.

The move is not a problem for the Sieber optician's business, it has been prepared.

Gauting – Below the almost completed “Karls” Sontowski complex, something is happening: the property at Bahnhofstraße 24 with the Sieber optician’s shop and the driving school is to be sold. The 700 square meter property is currently being offered for 2.5 million euros – for new residential development. But the Gautinger master optician family Sieber is relaxed about the future. You already own the two houses with the “Carat & Design” shop around the corner on Bergstrasse, says Rasso Sieber.

Gautinger Bahnhofstraße continues to change.

The two small houses with the Sieber optics and jewelery shop and Wehsling driving school on the corner of Bergstrasse and Bahnhofstrasse are currently being offered for sale online.

A demolition with subsequent residential development is planned, confirms the Munich real estate agent Lukas Schwaiger, who was commissioned by a community of ten heirs.

Although there has not yet been a preliminary inquiry from the building committee, the days of the village residential and commercial building are numbered after the sale.

Family business on Bahnhofstrasse in Gauting since 1948

His grandfather opened his shop at Bahnhofstraße 24 in 1949, remembers grandson Rasso Sieber. The master optician Josef Sieber senior (1915-2004) had founded the family business in a house on Grubmühlerfeldstraße a year earlier. The second generation followed in the mid-1970s with Josef Sieber junior. The two sons Josef and Klaus also became master opticians and opened the first contact lens studio in Gauting in 1984. Around the corner at Bergstraße 4, Klaus Sieber started the business "Auge und Mode" in 1988 and three years later the branch "Carat & Design". After handing over the family business to the two sons in 1997, the third generation started. The newly renovated, rented business premises at Bahnhofstrasse 24 were taken over by master optician Rasso Sieber. His younger brother Tizian followed in 2011 and even received the master's prize for "outstanding achievements", said the optician with restrained pride.

But the previous landlord died a year ago, Rasso Sieber explains the situation.

The community of heirs now wants to sell.

The approximately 120-year-old house, in which his grandfather worked when he was "over 80" in a white optician's smock with a watchmaker's loupe, will probably be demolished soon, says the grandson with a touch of nostalgia.

"But for our customers, things continue seamlessly," emphasizes Rasso Sieber.

The family business made provisions in good time with its own two shops on Bergstrasse.

What will become of the rented shop at Bahnhofstrasse 24, "we'll see," says the Gautinger calmly.

A little below, on the so-called grill property on the main square, it took two decades until the old building was demolished and today's Baderhof complex was approved.
