Irschenberg – During two checks in Pfronten and on the A8 at Irschenberg, the police discovered 24 kilos of cocaine hidden in cars.

Twice in the past few days, Bavarian police officers have seized kilos of cocaine with a total value of several 100,000 euros: Already on Thursday (January 13), officers at the Pfronten border police station (GPS) discovered around 16 kilograms of cocaine in a professional smuggling hiding place under the back seat of a car. Police officers from the Raubling Border Police Inspectorate (GPI) also found what they were looking for on Sunday (January 16). They secured around 8 kilograms of cocaine behind the dashboard of a car on the A8 motorway near Irschenberg.

"The two drivers were temporarily arrested and later taken into custody," said the Bavarian State Criminal Police Office.

The first case is a 40-year-old man with Spanish citizenship, the second a 23-year-old Romanian citizen.

The drugs with a total value of around 840,000 euros were seized.

Shortly after 8:30 a.m., the 40-year-old was driving his car with Belgian registration through Pfronten in a southerly direction when the police officers stopped and checked him near the border.

When asked about the intention of his trip, the man could not provide any plausible information.

The officers then took a closer look at the car.

In the back seat they discovered the cocaine, which was divided into several packages.

A 23-year-old was also traveling south on the A8 around 1 a.m.

During their inspection, the officials at GPI Raubling noticed that the driver seemed nervous, so they took a closer look at the car.

Behind the dashboard they found a professional smuggling hideout.

Inside were several packages of cocaine.

The joint investigation team Narcotics South Bavaria (GER South Bavaria) of the Bavarian State Criminal Police Office and the Munich Customs Investigation Office investigated - in the first case under the direction of the Kempten public prosecutor's office, in the second case under the direction of the Traunstein public prosecutor's office.
