Opinion | Facing Torch Efforts: Maintaining the Cohesion of the Likud Israel today

Left-wing commentators want to drive a wedge between Mizrahis and Ashkenazis in the Likud.

This week, Ron Khalili offers leading Mizrahi Knesset members in the Likud "to resign from the Likud, to form an Mizrahi faction in the spirit of the 'true Likud of Begin and Netanyahu' and to join the right-wing parties within the Shinui government."

Since the founding of the Zionist movement in 1897 until today, there has never been a process in its diverse political frameworks of electing a leader for a party, called a democracy, against which no one dared to face. How? No one in all functionaries has a future interested in competing for leadership? Nobody wants to build themselves for the day after? None of them stood up to challenge the leader. This is a democracy in complete degeneration.

In the Arab countries around us, where elections are held whose results are known in advance like a bad future, the Arab leaders face parties or straw men. At least the appearance of them is important to them. In Lapid and the party of the leader who built around him, even the appearance does not exist. Democracy is for the weak. Lapid's "enlightened" public has removed all contact with democracy for the sake of the Likud struggle. Lapid and his party are the destructive mutation at the heart of the democracy of us all.

The main task of Lapid's political life is to disband the Likud.

Only then will he be able to secure his rule.

The cynical parties of Naftali Bennett and Gideon Saar are the useful idiots for Lapid.

Rickety bricks he managed to get out of the right wall.

Just like the left-wing parties of Merav Michaeli and Nitzan Horowitz, who faced liquidation and extinction by Lapid in the last election, when he could "drink" their votes and get them off the political map.

Within the space of the leader's parties, which copy the model of centralism that paralyzes any independent thinking that Lapid has founded around him, the Likud movement stands firm.

Democracy in Likud institutions, the dialogue between the center and the periphery, between Mizrahis and Ashkenazis, between diverse groups, has become the last district of the protection of democratic and independent Israeliness.

Look at the distortion that has taken root in our districts.

The fact that the Likud is about to wage a democratic struggle, according to all the rules of the movement's constitution, between different and diverse personalities over its leadership, has miraculously become a negative point in the life of democracy in Israel by false commentators.

The important task of the largest and most heterogeneous democratic party in Israel is to maintain its cohesion during this difficult period.

Whenever there is a crisis in politics, the false advisers stand up and propose the dissolution of the Likud into its components, thus leading to the disintegration of the right-wing camp, and in effect re-establishing the left-wing alliance that ruled our lives before the 1977 coup.
