The health authorities in Rhineland-Palatinate recorded new highs in the number of daily corona infections and the seven-day incidence on Wednesday.
The health authorities registered 5106 new corona infections, more than ever before.
The state investigation office determined the highest seven-day incidence to date at 487.5 (as of 2:10 p.m.).
Mainz - On Tuesday it was 438.3.
A corona infection has currently been detected in 46,142 people in Rhineland-Palatinate.
The state investigation office gave the proportion of the virus variant Omicron to the genetically examined infections in the laboratory at 89.1 percent.

The hospitalization incidence - the number of hospital admissions per week per 100,000 inhabitants - increased from 3.34 to 3.84.
The number of reported deaths from Covid-19 patients increased by 7 to 4757.
The state capital Mainz recorded the highest seven-day incidence with 840.1 infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days.
This was followed by the city of Kaiserslautern (763.6), the district of Bad Kreuznach (743.3) and the city of Speyer (705.5).
The lowest incidence was 243.4 in the Southwest Palatinate district.
