The constitutional court of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia is to have a new home in Münster in a new building.
According to court president Barbara Dauner-Lieb, a parking space next to the Higher Administrative Court (OVG) in the city center is provided for this purpose.
Until then, the Constitutional Court will rent office space in the vicinity of the previous location for an interim solution in spring 2022, she said on Wednesday in the legal committee of the state parliament in Düsseldorf.
Münster/Düsseldorf - The new building is to be occupied by 2026.
The state parliament had decided that the constitutional court and the higher administrative court (OVG) of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia would be separated in terms of location and leadership. Law professor Barbara Dauner-Lieb has been President of the Constitutional Court since June 1, 2021, while the Higher Administrative Court is currently headed by her deputy Sebastian Beimesche after Ricarda Brands retired.
The Constitutional Court must continue to use the OVG during the interim solution.
According to Dauner-Lieb, no negotiation room is available in the rented rooms.
"I have a tiny request: everyone must pull together now.
State Chancellery, Ministry of Finance and so on.
Everyone has to say yes now," said Dauner-Lieb about the plans that the construction and real estate company of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (BLB) is to implement.
The plot of land earmarked for new construction belongs to the country.

The plans that have now been published were preceded by a year-long dispute over the location in Münster.
Dauner-Lieb, her predecessor, the city of Münster and the district government of Münster had been unable to agree on various options for a representative seat for the constitutional body.
