The retired policeman and his wife were involved in an argument with the 55-year-old van driver surnamed Chen outside the public transport interchange at Siu Hong Station of the Tuen Mun MTR in November last year.
Chen then fell into a coma and died after being sent to the hospital.
The retired police officer and his wife were each charged with one count of manslaughter, and the wife was granted bail of a total of $200,000 in cash and personal guarantees.
The retired policeman applied to the High Court for bail today (19th). Judge Chen Qingwei granted him a bail of 50,000 yuan after hearing his arguments.
Defendants Kwong Tak Wing (retired, 57 years old) and Li Kwai Fong (laundry supervisor, 58 years old) were charged with illegal killing at a taxi stand outside Exit A of MTR Siu Hong Station, Siu Hong Road, Tuen Mun, New Territories, Hong Kong on November 28, 2021 Chen Guoliang died.
Judge Chen Qingwei today granted Kwong Tak-wing a bail of 50,000 yuan. During this period, he must not leave Hong Kong, hand over his travel documents, and report to the police station twice a week.
