The Russian Progress Center for Space Industries announced the development of a new batch of satellites intended for remote sensing of the Earth.
And the Russia Today website quoted the Director General of the Center, Dmitry Baranov, as saying that “at the end of last December, the first satellites of the (Resource B) group went out of service after working in Earth’s orbits for more than the expected period, and today we are working on developing several new satellites of the same category.” .
Baranov added that we are working on developing other (Resource B) satellites, as the assembly of the No. 4 satellite of this model has been completed, explaining that its equipment is currently being tested and it is supposed to be prepared for launch in the spring of this year.
He pointed out that Moon No. 5 is still in the manufacturing and assembly stage, and work on assembling all of its parts is supposed to end in 2023.
Russia is developing (Resource B) satellites to be remote sensing satellites used for civilian purposes. The information provided by these satellites is based on mapping, as well as in monitoring vegetation cover and places of mineral and oil extraction.
