Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov confirmed that Moscow has not yet received a written response from the United States and NATO to the security guarantees proposals, expressing his country's hope that this will happen in the near future.
Speaking at the Valdai International Club for Dialogue in Moscow today, Ryabkov said: We look forward to continuing dialogue with the Americans on issues that concern us in the first place, adding that the United States, during talks with Russia on security guarantees, expressed its readiness to work on a bilateral basis with Moscow on stability strategic.
Ryabkov added: Last week, the US side expressed its readiness to further work on the issue of strategic stability on a bilateral basis, including agreeing on a new agreement to replace START, pointing out that the United States and NATO are making baseless allegations against Russia.
The Deputy Foreign Minister explained that Moscow called on the Americans last week and will continue to do so to take concrete measures to force Kiev to strictly and fully comply with the Minsk agreements on the Donbass region, while stressing the need to stop supporting the Ukrainian regime with weapons and assistance in the field of training, developing plans and implementing them to build military bases to threaten Russia's security.
Ryabkov stressed that Moscow needs clear guarantees that Georgia and Ukraine will not join the alliance and said: For us, the priority is to achieve legally binding and firm guarantees from the United States that Ukraine and other countries will not become members of NATO. Excluding Ukraine and Georgia from becoming members of NATO.
