Markus Söder is considering making some personnel changes in his cabinet.
However, the Bavarian Prime Minister brought the personal emergency into his own hands.
A comment by Mike Schier.
Markus Söder is considering a cabinet reshuffle.
Nobody will disagree with him when it comes to the diagnosis: the Bavarian ministerial team, who are pale overall, could use a little blood refreshment.
When it comes to solving the problem, however, you don't want to swap places with the prime minister: Because nobody from the second row of the CSU is pushing forward.
At first glance, no personnel promises to exude anything like a spirit of optimism for the state elections.
Markus Söder: Personnel changes with a view to the 2023 state elections
However, that is exactly what the CSU boss has in mind.
District lists will be on the ballot papers in autumn 2023: With the President of the State Parliament Aigner in Upper Bavaria, Minister of Health Holetschek in Swabia and Minister of Finance Füracker in Upper Palatinate, the CSU has real driving forces in the top positions.
In Lower Bavaria, however, the nice but pale Bernd Sibler would have to compete against Hubert Aiwanger.
Difficult.
And whether in Upper Franconia the sawed-off Minister of Health Melanie Huml is the solution for first place again?
Unlikely.
Personnel emergency in Söder's cabinet
Söder brought on the personal emergency himself.
So far, the CSU boss, who likes to divide the world into friend and foe, has only rewarded those with posts who loyally and quietly followed him.
Politicians with their own opinions tended to be undesirable.
Consequence: Where no one dares to come out of cover, no one develops a profile.
So if Söder wants to go into the election with a broad team in 2023, he not only has to "refine" his team - but also his management style.
