45 million euros in the pot - historic profit possible

The lottery jackpot is 45 million euros.

The lottery shop owner Karl Peter Darchinger reports an increase in the number of his customers and talks about previous lottery winners.

Munich - If the dream actually comes true, then many will first be very quiet.

"The higher the profit, the calmer the people become," says Karl Peter Darchinger.

The 53-year-old runs a small stationery shop in Giesing* - and not only does he have customers who need pens and pads, but also many who dream of big money.

Especially in the last few days: "Customer frequency is almost twice as high," he says.

The reason: In the lottery jackpot 6 out of 49 there are 45 million euros for the drawing on Wednesday (January 19). This sum was already up for grabs on Saturday* – the jackpot wasn't hit there. This time the following applies: Even if no one should have six correct numbers plus a super number, there will be a compulsory distribution. "If the 45 million were cracked by just one individual, that would be the highest win that has ever been won with 6 out of 49," says Oliver Albrecht from Lotto* Bayern.

Karl Peter Darchinger is the third generation to run his shop and so far knows of three lottery players who have actually gotten rich.

One bought an apartment, another a house, but another winner was not so lucky with the money.

A customer who always played with the same numbers also had bad luck.

"She changed twice," says Darchinger.

"And then just missed a fiver twice."

High lottery jackpot attracts new players: "Some didn't even know how to do it"

Karl Peter Darchinger has known many of his regular players for a long time.

Although it is now possible to play online, most lottery players still prefer to hand in the ticket in person.

In Bavaria, the internet share was eleven percent in the 6-out-of-49 game in 2021.

The high jackpot now also attracted completely new players.

"Some didn't even know how to do it," says Karl Peter Darchinger.

He also hands in a ticket at another acceptance point – and is looking forward to the draw on Wednesday.
