The Meretz party this evening (Wednesday) filed an appeal with the Government Secretariat on the Citizenship Bill, with the aim of blocking the bill from reaching the plenum without agreement with the Meretz and Ra'am factions, after the outline agreed upon was not implemented.
"I would like to bring to a further discussion in the government the draft Citizenship and Entry into Israel Law," the Meretz party wrote.
Ayelet Shaked's citizenship law, Ayelet Shaked, continues to shake the coalition's stability.
It will be recalled that after the support of Shaked and Justice Minister Gideon Saar, the law was approved by the Ministerial Committee on Legislative Affairs, fueling tensions between his daughter, the coalition between Meretz and the right.
As stated, the Citizenship Law is enforced by virtue of a temporary provision that has been extended every year since 2003. Its purpose is to limit the quota of permits to Palestinians living in Judea and Samaria or the Gaza Strip who have married Israelis.
On behalf of Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked, a response has not yet been submitted.
