It is good for a local fire brigade to have many young people in its own ranks.

However, it becomes problematic when these young people have no chance of staying in their home town because there is no living space or it is far from affordable.

Anzing – The average age of the active troops within the Anzing fire brigade is 35 years. That is, says commander Tobias Bönte, a very good value in comparison with other local fire brigades. In any case, one that expresses that the work with young people in recent years and decades must not have been entirely fruitless. But there is also a downside. Within this young team, the age group of members between 20 and 30 years is particularly well represented, said Bönte on Tuesday before members of the municipal council. And it's about Anzinger, who often have to struggle with the problem of being able to pay the constantly rising rents locally. And that in a village where there is little living space anyway, said Bönte and his deputy Michael Belmer in a foreword to the annual fire service report 2021. Quote: "As a result, young members in particular have had to leave the site in recent years. Here we want to work out solutions together with the community on how we can better deal with the problem".

Tobi Bönte, at the same time Anzing's SPD parliamentary group spokesman, put his finger in a wound that was and is not unknown to his colleagues in the municipal council.

In the worst case, he objected in the plenum on Tuesday, there would be another bloodletting.

And then it doesn't look so rosy anymore with the currently still very decent membership of the FFW.

Hope for a normal year 2022

As a precaution, advertising to young people will soon be revived with the aim of recruiting new members for the youth fire brigade. And with the hope that some of them will remain in the active troop of the future. However, according to the First Commander, recruiting young people only makes sense if you can also offer something to the young people. Unfortunately, that was exactly what was not possible last year because of Corona. Bönte's and Belmer's wish that 2022 would enable halfway normal operation again was therefore the focus of the current annual report.

109 exercises were completed in 2021.

A significant increase compared to 2020, but this had to do with the fact that more and more training was done online or in small groups.

The practice hours worked in 1972 were therefore something like a rather below-average value.

According to the FFW leadership, there were 102 missions last year, which were associated with 1627 hours of work.

It is gratifying that, in contrast to previous years, there were no major deployments.

Thanks to a fairly high vaccination rate within the fire brigade, readiness for action was always granted.

It is said that there were no outbreaks of any kind during exercises or operations.

The completion of an extension to the warehouse and the conversion and expansion of the changing rooms were something of a highlight in the past year, according to the annual report.

The next major project is the replacement of a multi-purpose vehicle and a logistics equipment truck.

Bönte expects that an invitation to tender could be issued in the first quarter of 2022.

However, he pointed out that due to corona, delivery times of up to 18 months must now be expected.

Looking forward to the 150th anniversary in July

The highlight this year will be the post-celebration of the 150th anniversary from July 21st to 25th.

In May, the pandemic situation will be examined more closely and a final decision will then be made.

For the time being, the planning would continue unabated.
