Permitted for publication: Bella Monk, 54, a resident of Rehovot, is the woman who was found dead last night (Tuesday) in a fire that broke out in her home in the city.
A fire investigator from the fire department has not yet determined what caused the fire, but it is estimated that it is a short circuit.
Three occupants of the building were injured by smoke inhalation but did not require medical attention.
Monk, who left behind two sons, lost her 16-year-old son in 2014 after dying from a congenital muscular dystrophy.
She herself was confined to a wheelchair about a year later, after suffering a stroke.
Following this, she was forced to live with an attached caregiver, who during the fire tried to save her and rescue her from the burning apartment, but when he failed he escaped after being injured himself.
A city inspector and a volunteer policeman who arrived first and provided assistance to the building's occupants were also injured and after being treated on the spot were evacuated to Kaplan Medical Center.
The inspector was moderately injured while the 49-year-old policeman was seriously injured during the rescue attempt and is now hospitalized while being anesthetized and respirated.
The fire occurred on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday at Monk's home on Tuvia Miller Street in Rehovot.
Firefighters arrived at the scene together with MDA and began extinguishing the fire, in parallel with the evacuation of tenants, and when they entered the apartment, they discovered Monk's body.
MDA paramedic Yehuda Marcus: "When we arrived at the scene, we saw fire and smoke in an apartment on the fifth floor, people came out of the building and came to us after the fire crews extinguished the fire and ventilated the smoke.
"During the searches of the apartment, an unconscious woman was found with burns and after inhaling a lot of smoke, she was without signs of life and we have no choice but to determine her death."
