This information is a thorn in Mayor Vaas' side.

Allershausen has to live with the consequences of the Freising west tangent.

In 2015, traffic expert Kurzak predicted the collapse after commissioning.

How to proceed now?

Allershausen/Freising

– In the spring of 2015, the symbolic groundbreaking ceremony for the Freising West Tangente took place.

At the same time, traffic expert Harald Kurzak prophesied that the Allershauseners would experience final traffic collapse if that western bypass was completed and Allershausen was still without a bypass by then.

That is exactly what has happened now, almost seven years later: traffic is rolling on the Westtangente, Allershausen still has no bypass.

So what's next?

Traffic report predicts the worst

The municipal councils were shocked in April 2015 when Harald Kurzak explained to them that Allershausen, which was already extremely busy, would be hit by a huge avalanche of traffic once the west ring road was opened. Because: As a shortcut to the airport, the west tangent via the state road 2084 is ideal, after all the trucks also saved themselves the toll fee. In short: According to the report, the worst fears should come true. At the time, everyone agreed: bleak prospects. So now it's time to check the forecasts made at the time against actual figures. As Allershausen's Mayor Martin Vaas (PFW) told the FT, a counting device had already been installed on Münchner Straße in November 2021 - i.e. before the opening of the Westtangente - which has since recorded traffic in both directions.About a week after the opening of the Westtangente, one cannot say anything, says Vaas, but one is prepared.

Ready to count: Since the end of 2021, the municipality of Allershausen has been registering the traffic that drives through Allershausen.

In addition, he had already critically remarked to the state building authority that in Freising near the dairy there was a sign directing car and truck drivers to the left onto the A9 and to Allershausen.

It would probably make more sense and be better to steer drivers to the right onto the A 92 and from there onto the A 9.

The state building authority is checking this suggestion, said Vaas.

It is also being checked whether state road 2084 could also be subject to a toll for trucks, as Vaas had suggested.

This is actually only possible – apart from motorways – on federal highways.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

Seven years ago, Harald Kurzak told the community something else: The only way to prevent Allershausen from finally suffocating in traffic is a southern bypass. It is precisely the southern bypass that was no longer a priority in the road traffic plan in 2011, was demoted to the second priority level and has been peacefully dormant ever since - despite various attempts by Allershausen to bring it back to life.

As Vaas explained, the current state of affairs is that a new traffic census is needed in order to be able to prove the need for the Allershausen bypass at all.

However, according to Vaas, the state building authority suspended this in Corona times because the numbers would not have been representative.

He was happy about that, not that it would have been said that Allershausen didn't need a detour at all.

So nothing will happen that quickly for the time being.

And it remains to be seen whether Allershausen will actually be suffocated by traffic once the Westtangente has been in operation for some time and has become known as the “airport feeder”, as Kurzak called it.

Until then, it's time to wait and count traffic movements.
