Three teenagers were found dead this Tuesday in a house in the Houston area, in Texas, in what local authorities consider to be a double murder followed by suicide.
The victims are
two 17-year-old women and a 15-year-old man
, according to the authorities, although neither their ages nor their identities have been officially confirmed.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said at a news conference that the bodies were found Tuesday afternoon
by "a family member"
who lives next door to the house and "was trying to locate someone." .
Gonzalez said it appears that one of the teens killed the other two before committing suicide, although the circumstances or possible motives are unknown.
A firearm was found in the home, he added, and is believed to be connected to the crime.
The house is in a rural area near the community of Crosby, about 25 miles (40 kilometers) northeast of Houston.
The owner was not in the house, as he was traveling, according to the authorities.

Police are working to determine a motive and the connections between the three teens, Gonzalez said, calling the deaths "senseless" and "tragic."
"Our condolences go out to all members of the family," he concluded.
