In Kiev claim that Russia has mobilized 127.00 troops on its eastern border • US Secretary of State arrived in Ukraine and threatened further sanctions on Russia if it acts militarily

Kiev's fears of a Russian invasion of the country were further strengthened today after Ukraine's military intelligence released an assessment that the Russian military had completed its preparations for action on the country's eastern border.

It is estimated that the Russian Federation's army has 127,000 troops near the Ukrainian border, including 106,000 from the Russian land army and the rest from the Air Force and Navy.

According to a statement from the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense the situation created on the eastern border of Ukraine is "extremely difficult".

"Russia is trying to split the European Union and the NATO alliance and it is intended to undermine the United States' capabilities to ensure the security of the European continent," the intelligence assessment said.

According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, Russia has in recent months moved large quantities of ammunition from the center and east of the country to its western border as well as dozens of hospitals, clinics, headquarters.

The report states that the transfer of the equipment constitutes "conclusive proof of preparations for a possible invasion of Ukrainian territory."

Yesterday it was reported that Russian forces had crossed the border into neighboring Belarus, during which there was a fear in Ukraine of a Russian invasion on another front through the territory of Belarus, in the area close to the Ukrainian capital Kiev.

In Russia it is claimed that the transfer of forces was intended for a joint exercise designed to protect Russia and Belarus from invasion by Western forces into its territory.

In addition, reports from various sources have reported that Russia has begun expelling the families of the diplomatic staff from Kiev, for fear of an impending confrontation.

The Kremlin denied the reports.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinkan visited Ukraine and called on Russia to wear makeup and opt for a "way of diplomacy" instead of a military confrontation.

At a press conference with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Blinken, he said: "Russia is trying to weaken Ukraine's legitimate institutions and bring about a split in Ukrainian society. Russia is using every possible tool from election intervention to cyber attacks."

"We will make a tireless diplomatic effort to prevent the resumption of Russian aggression and promote dialogue and peace," the secretary of state said, adding that his country would not be afraid to impose "heavy sanctions" on Russia in case it chose a path of invasion and war.

Blinken is expected to meet with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, in Geneva on Friday, after three rounds of talks between the West and Russia failed to bring a compromise that would put an end to the threat of war.
