"My fun is producing for people" Israel today

2022-01-20T06:37:48.625Z

Three generations ago, Abdullah's family of 'Abd al-Khalim began raising sheep and cows in the backyard of the a-Zabda mansion in the Jezreel Valley. Today it boasts an elaborate pen, which meets the highest standards. Uri Koren, Tnuva Manufacturers Relations Coordinator in the North: "We were involved and assisted at every stage - from planning to milking"

In 1945, three members of the 'Abd' Abd al-Khalim family came to an area owned by their family in the northern Jezreel Valley and established a small village then called "Khirbet Zabda."

Among other things, the locals made a living from small farms in the backyards of cows, goats, chickens and more, for the basic subsistence.

Among the first settlers was Abdullah's grandfather, 35-year-old Abd al-Khalim - who now runs the extended and advanced family home in the settlement, which over the years has received its current name, from the a-Zabda oblivion.

"Grandpa's family had some sheep, calves and cows, and after Grandpa died, at a relatively young age, my father's older brother took command of the family and raised him as well," says Abdullah. Once he learned something else and got into things. "

The village itself was officially recognized by the state only in 1979, and a year later, with the approval of the master plan, it was connected to the water and electricity systems and began to develop significantly.

It was this development that enabled Imran's father to establish, in 1988, the family's first milking parlor.

"Even today my uncle takes part in the business, even though his health condition does not allow him to be one hundred percent active," says the son, "and I help my father all the time, in whatever need. I started helping Dad when I was in second grade. Together with my older sister we got up early "At four-thirty in the morning, they help Dad before school, and when they return from school, they join him again."

The whole family lends a hand

Abdullah says that over the years his father wanted to continue developing the herd, adding more and more sheep, until at some point a situation arose where the old herd no longer had room, and the family began the process of moving the farm out of the village. "Every time one of the sheep made a noise we quarreled with the neighbors," says Imran with a smile, and his son adds: Our new milking parlor is very advanced and we feel we have made a very big step in this transition.

"The difference in the work process is significant - here it takes me to milk 500 sheep in less than an hour, the quality of the milk is better, it is cleaner. My fun is producing the milk for people and because I know that in the end the produce reaches the people My grandfather, along with one of Dad's brothers, started this road in the 1950s, and I'll continue their journey. We already have plans to build another house, just like this. My little son is already here to see the work and even helps For us from time to time. "

Uri Koren, Tnuva's producer coordinator in the north, is in constant contact with the 'Abd al-Khalim family and says that "this is a family that has been producing milk for many, many years. That the family made the transition from a small house for basic subsistence purposes only, to a house that works with outsiders and over the years has also expanded and progressed. There is a significant difference between a house for basic needs, and a large and significant business as in the case of Imran.

"Tnuva's connection with the family is first and foremost at the professional level - we collect the milk, trust the milk tests, its quality and components, and of course everything related to the regular payment. We also assist in all aspects of milk tank maintenance, infrastructure assistance, financing. Of Imran we were very involved because a few years ago they made a very big move of moving to the new site. They had a small and crowded and old house near the house, and with the help of the Jezreel Valley Regional Council, Ministry of Agriculture and Tnuva, they built a big house outside the village Today, Tnuva was there mainly to direct them to all requirements and to suit all their needs, and we were involved from the planning stage until, in practice, milk was milked there.

"Tnuva also trusts the connection with all interfaces in the dairy industry: laboratories, milking interface guides who help manufacturers, if medical factors are needed we make the appropriate links. It is very important for us to help any family who wants to develop to feel confident in the industry."

Confidence and reliability

Efri Reikin, director of the raw milk division and producer relations at Tnuva, adds that milk and sheep producers in the Arab sector usually adhere to the traditional mode of production and raise a limited number of sheep in a small compound near the house.

"It's a tradition, part of a way of life, but it's not a real business," says Raikin. For that matter, those who take on the challenge really leave the village and build a house that is suitable for the 21st century.

"Imran built a new house for glory, with a high-quality and technologically advanced milking facility. He decided that he must market to a large dairy, which could receive his milk quantities, so he contacted Tnuva. Their business meets all the company's requirements, does not round corners and does not compromise. "He takes care of everything because he knows exactly what needs to be done to be a producer of Tnuva. We, for our part, give him the confidence and reliability that we will absorb his produce. This mutual connection is reflected in the success of this family business."
