Against the background of the difficult events in the last few days of the commando brigade, the commander of the land arm, Maj. Gen. Tamir Yedai, today appointed Lt. Col. M. as commander of the Walnut unit, and Lt. Col. D. as commander of the Cherry unit.
Lt. Col. D. serves as one of the operational battalions in the IDF today, and his name has been published quite a bit in the media.
Lt. Col. A., who has a glorious and well-known family heritage, has been appointed commander of the Magellan unit.
Another significant appointment decided today by the Commander of the Land Arm is the appointment of Lt. Col. Efrat Kikov-Levy as Deputy Commander of the Fire Brigade.
Two other interesting appointments are from the commander of the Nahal Battalion, Lt. Col. Ido Ben Anat, to the Deputy Commander of the Iron Armored Corps, and the appointment of the Armored Battalion Commander, Lt. Col. Yoav Schneider, to the Deputy Commander of the Nahal Brigade. The armor and the Nahal, which is intended to increase the integration between the infantry and the armor, and is part of the IDF's trend in recent years of combining arms and troops.
Other interesting appointments are that of Lt. Col. Nathaniel Shmecha Shimona as commander of the Geffen Battalion in the 1st Battalion, and Lt. Col. Bar-Bashan Shimona as the commander of the Lahav Battalion in the 1st Battalion.
