The Ministry of Defense and the German ThyssenKrupp shipyard today (Thursday) signed an agreement for the development and production of three advanced submarines for the Israeli naval arm.

The agreement was signed today by the Director General of the Ministry of Defense, Maj. Gen. (Res.) Amir Eshel, and the Director General of the German company ThyssenKrupp, Dr. Rolf Wurz, at the Ministry of Defense in Tel Aviv, in a small ceremony attended by Commander David Saar Selma and other senior officials. .

The signing also includes a reciprocal purchase agreement in the amount of over 850 million euros.

The agreement signed with the PA in the Ministry of Economy includes procurement from Israeli industries, including defense industries, amounting to hundreds of millions of euros, which will yield knowledge, open markets abroad, professional training, employment and technological development for the economy and the defense system.

This is a detailed agreement, in which the components of the investment and the acquisition were agreed in advance.

The agreement with the company Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) was led by the Ministry of Defense - Directorate and Finance, Budgets, Defense and the Attorney General, in close cooperation with the IDF and the Navy, the Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economy and Industry.

Defense Minister Bnei Gantz said: "The purchase of three operational submarines, from the first line, joins a series of steps we have been advancing in the past year in equipping and strengthening the IDF and the operational readiness for all war zones.
