The Directorate of Water Resources in Al-Hasakah stressed the importance of the snowfall witnessed in the entire governorate yesterday and its role in strengthening the dams and groundwater reserves after the period of the lack of rain.
The Director of Water Resources, Engineer Abdul Aziz Amin, stated in a statement to SANA reporter that the snowfall that pervaded the governorate and reached the highest recorded thickness of 17 cm is very important in terms of strengthening water stores in the dams located north of the governorate after melting, in addition to strengthening the underground water stores that suffered from The length of the rain fall and the drought that affected the governorate since last year.
Engineer Amin pointed out that the current storage volume of water in the governorate's dams is 278 million and 867 thousand cubic meters, where part of its water is used to secure drinking water for the people and another part is used to irrigate the agricultural areas located nearby.
It is noteworthy that there are 10 dams in Al-Hasakah governorate spread throughout the city, the largest of which is the Al-Shaheed Al-Basel Dam, south of the city.
