In April 2018, recommendations to teachers were published to "
facilitate the learning of fundamental knowledge
".
But is this the case?
Presidential candidate Eric Zemmour said this week on BFMTV that today, "
many children, 30% I believe, enter 6th grade without knowing how to read and write
".

studies
” which show that during a dictation, children making “
less than 5 mistakes
” were “
31% in 1987
”.
Today, he continues, they are “
no more than 8%
”.
