(CNN Spanish) --

Christina Aguilera revisits her roots in "La Fuerza", her first production in Spanish in more than 20 years.

The American singer, of Ecuadorian descent, presents this Friday the EP that contains the singles "Pa' mis mujeres", a collaboration with Becky G, Nicki Nicole and Nathy Peluso, and "Somos nada", a ballad with piano and voice that presented on stage at the Latin Grammys in 2021.

Why is Christina Aguilera recording in Spanish again?

Almost 22 years have passed since Christina Aguilera released "Mi Reflejo", her only album in Spanish.

On that occasion, several songs from their first self-titled album were adapted from English to Spanish.

On the other hand, for "La Fuerza" the songs were written in Spanish and with the Latin culture in mind.

For the singer, her return to Spanish speaking was imminent in her career.

"I always considered going back to Latin music.

Mi Reflejo

was a beautiful and special moment in my life, but it was more than 20 years ago, when I was just starting my career, I was just getting into the business. I was baby Christina," the singer said. to Zona Pop CNN at a press conference.

That maturity of two decades and becoming a mother gave her a different perspective when singing in Spanish again.

"20 years later, I am an adult woman who has had an incredible career and now I can return. After having reflected on that, being a mother and now being able to share with my children, a large part of them and who they are. And for you to see mom sing in Spanish, they can hear it and feel it on a musical level," Aguilera said.

The first chapter of three in Spanish

Christina Aguilera told Zona Pop CNN that this first EP is just the first chapter of three that she will release throughout 2022 with music in Spanish.

"This is just the first chapter of three that will give more music to come in 2022. I wanted to continue surprising fans [throughout the year]," said the singer.

During the press conference, Aguilera explained that in another of the album's chapters she will touch on the subject of her father's estrangement.

"I have a bit of an estranged relationship with my father. I've spoken openly about this in the past. In the other chapters I address my father, and it's the first time I've really [done it]. I come from a place where I'm doing the peace with certain parts of my past. So, on a deeper level, this album means a lot to me because I've been able to accept a lot of things about who I am," the singer said.

This is how she chose the artists who would collaborate with her in "La Fuerza"

In this first chapter, Aguilera collaborates with a variety of Latin artists and more recently with Ozuna, with whom she performs "Santo", the third single from her new production.

But why did he choose each of them?

"Latin music is such a beautiful community-based environment and there's so much love there that I definitely wanted it to be a unified experience," Aguilera told CNN Pop Zone.

For Aguilera, the decision to share a song with someone, now at this point in her career, has to do with the admiration she feels for the artist in question.

"It's more important to me now [to make songs] with artists that I really not only admire, but I know I do it because I love and want the experience. The experience trumps anything else for me. And at this point in my life and career, it's important to me to do the things I love to do and for no other reason," she told CNN.

Feminine power in this new chapter

In the first single of this new stage, "Pa 'my girls", Aguilera surrounded herself with feminine power: two Argentines and one American.

The singer recalled the experience with the video for "Lady Marmalade," a 2001 song in which singers like Mýa, Lil' Kim and P!nk joined forces with Aguilera.

"I loved doing

Lady Marmalade

with all those women. Powerful women and each one different, representing who they are," she said.

"

For my girls

it was a very important way to return as a form of celebration, with such incredible and accomplished women in music. I have great admiration for other strong women, who speak their truth," Aguilera told CNN.

In Nicki Nicole says that she sees the Christina Aguilera of her beginnings.

"Being so young and making music in such a fierce way. Being herself...reminds me a lot of when I was starting out in the business, when I made my first album in Spanish," she said.

Of Nathy Peluso, he said that it is a hurricane on stage.

"(Nathy) is a pure energy, she is fire. She is incredible on stage. She is an innate dancer and performer. I am mesmerized when I see her."

De Becky G admires her strength and ability in business.

“She represents such a strong, polished and intelligent businesswoman.

I love having conversations with her."
