With an incidence of 1067, the district of Dachau is at the top in Bavaria.

However, the omicron wave has not yet made itself felt in the critical infrastructure.

Dachau – By Thursday noon, 400 new cases had already been received by the Dachau health department.

Despite the support of the Bundeswehr - six soldiers are on site for two weeks - the employees are no longer able to call all infected people and record the data.

According to Sina Török, spokeswoman for the district office, the health department focuses its investigation on the vulnerable areas - nursing homes, schools and daycare centers - and thus prioritizes cases of infection in the facilities.

The sharp increase in the number of cases is also noticeable in the Markt Indersdorf test center: According to Török, the number of tests there is at the upper limit, but the capacity limit has not yet been reached.

Nevertheless, there are waiting times - on Wednesday up to two hours.

Fortunately, according to the experts of the pandemic group that met yesterday afternoon, the omicron wave is not yet a problem, says Török, although the situation is of course tense.

An overview:

clinics

In the past seven days, the number of employees who had to be isolated because of a positive finding has increased in line with the current incidence situation in the district, as reported by Alexander von Freyburg, senior physician and pandemic officer.

"A quarantine due to contacts in the clinics is currently only necessary in individual cases due to our hygiene concept and the good and professional implementation." Currently, around a dozen employees - from all professional groups and across both Dachau and Markt Indersdorf locations - are in isolation or quarantine.

"The compensation of failures is based on several pillars," says von Freyburg.

Short-term absences can be compensated for by employees of the springer pool or shifts between more frequented and less busy areas.

It is also possible to convert individual planned inpatient stays into outpatient structures or to postpone appointments.

There has been a ban on visits to the clinics in Dachau and Indersdorf since Wednesday.

police

The police reports positively: “I am very happy that neither a member of the PI Dachau is currently suffering from Corona nor is he in quarantine as a close contact.” Police chief Thomas Rauscher said. Since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020, various protective measures have been taken, which are constantly being adapted to the current pandemic situation. As part of the patrol service, protective masks - the standard is the FFP2 mask - are worn as soon as contact with other people takes place and as far as the operational situation allows this in individual cases, according to Rauscher.

According to Rauscher, rosters in the individual organizational units are designed in such a way that, for example, members of different functional units are not deployed together.

In addition, there are enough quick tests available that can also be used for close-meshed testing.

Of course, neighboring departments would support each other if necessary, "the central supplementary services of the police headquarters are also available with their squadrons," says Rauscher.

The ultimate goal is to ensure the functionality of the police at all times.

"So far, we have managed to do this without exception during the course of the pandemic."

schools and day-care centers

At the moment it still looks relaxed in schools and kindergartens in the district.

In terms of personnel, the schools are also well positioned with a reserve, explains district office press spokeswoman Sina Török.

In addition, the schools would have the opportunity to hire external staff at short notice.

Whether an entire class has to be quarantined or not is not decided according to a fixed rule, but always on a case-by-case basis.

"The health department checks where the infections took place," explains Török.

If this was the case in the classroom, “it happens that the whole class has to be quarantined”, even if there are vaccinated children among them, explains the spokeswoman for the district office.

Whether it will go back to homeschooling in the future will be decided across Bavaria, not locally.

In the area of day care centers, the facilities have recently “shortened their care times in order to be able to compensate for losses and avoid closures in the event of infections,” says Török.

The concept is currently working.

Only one daycare center in the Dachau district had to remain closed yesterday and today because there was a lack of staff.

retirement and nursing homes

In the area of nursing homes, the situation is also still relaxed at the moment, since "we tend to have a quiet infection process in this area," explains Török.

fire Department

One thing, emphasizes district fire inspector Maximilian Reimoser crystal clear: “The operational readiness is fully secured!” Fortunately, the fire brigades in the district have not had any failures during the entire pandemic, says Reimoser.

On the one hand, this is due to the clear rules of conduct that the defense forces have imposed on themselves and, on the other hand, to the concept for exercises.

For example, in district courses, practice is carried out in large rooms, in small groups and accordingly with more trainers.

Furthermore, 2G plus applies every time, quick tests are mandatory at every meeting.

"In the emergency service, however, the 2G rule does not apply to us, that would not be verifiable," says Reimoser.

THW

There is also good news from the THW Dachau. Press spokesman Sven Langer sees the commitment of his helpers "in no way endangered" despite Omikron. Langer emphasizes: We currently have 70 helpers who are ready for action, all of whom are actually vaccinated". The only exception is a helper who has not yet been able to be vaccinated for health reasons. And even if an infection is possible despite vaccination, Langer sees it as "absolutely unlikely" that all helpers were infected at the same time. In addition, the THW also has a reserve of helpers. There are no longer meetings in large groups at the THW anyway, "we only meet in the accommodation for training purposes".

Two helpers from the First Responders are also on site every day.

But: "No one can get in without a quick test, so we were able to discover one or two cases," explains Sven Langer.

What to do if you test positive is also clear: Contact your family doctor as soon as possible!
