The Prime Minister, Engineer Hussein Arnous, stressed the importance of the work of the Central Organization for Financial Control and the Central Authority for Control and Inspection in fighting corruption and controlling any imbalance in public spending and the need to strengthen the principle of prior and immediate oversight and to hold violators accountable through the relevant institutions in accordance with the laws and regulations in force.
While chairing a meeting of the Supreme Council for Financial Supervision today, Eng. Arnous indicated that the meeting comes within the framework of the government’s executive steps to combat corruption, stressing the importance of the efforts made by workers in the supervisory bodies to investigate issues related to the work of public agencies and the application of the principle of the rule of law in a way that contributes to preserving public money and achieving Public interest.
The Prime Minister pointed out the need to complete cutting the final account of the budgets for the years 2019-2020-2021 during the current year and to redouble efforts to end the accounting accumulation and submit budgets on time.
During the meeting, legal mechanisms were discussed to strengthen the Central Authority for Financial Control with trained and qualified human cadres and enable it to carry out the role assigned to it to the fullest extent. It was agreed to secure the infrastructure and equipment necessary to automate the work of the device and network with public authorities.
The proposals focused on developing the work of the agency and strengthening the application of the principle of the rule of law in addressing all issues related to public bodies, preventing any exceptions, and developing a legal text to control spending operations in independent public bodies and organize the work of warehouses in all public agencies.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Finance, Dr. Kinan Yaghi, and Secretary General of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Dr. Qais Muhammad Khader.
