Essonne: a man arrested after stabbing two passers-by

A man, not yet identified, was arrested Thursday morning January 20 in Viry-Châtillon (Essonne) after wounding two passers-by with a knife in the street, AFP learned from the prosecution.

A 17-year-old young man was slightly injured in the neck Thursday around 8:00 a.m., then a 52-year-old woman was also hit in the abdomen and back, she is in serious condition, according to the prosecution and a source close to the case.

The attacker was arrested and placed in police custody in the process and his identification is in progress, said the prosecution.

According to a second source familiar with the matter, the man, who appears to be in his thirties, has "

a homeless appearance

" and speaks English.

He said nothing at the time of the events and, according to the first elements of the investigation, the terrorist track is not envisaged, specified this source.

The investigation was entrusted to the departmental security of Essonne.
