In the dispute with Meßstetten about the accommodation of refugees, the state gave in with a reference to the recently falling numbers.
"A possible reactivation of the former state initial reception facility in Meßstetten does not have to be pursued at the moment," said the Ministry of Justice in Stuttgart on Thursday.
Meßstetten/Stuttgart - It is the temporary end of a sharp dispute between city and country. Because recently, due to the increasing number of refugees, more places were urgently sought. It was also checked whether the former facility (LEA) in Meßstetten could be put back into operation. The city and district administrator, on the other hand, had described the area as completely unsuitable for housing refugees.
The ministry explained that the reconstruction of a so-called LEA on a former barracks site was considered because significantly more people were registered in the state's initial reception facilities in the second half of 2021.
In addition, the crisis surrounding migrants on the eastern EU external border with Belarus has escalated.
Most recently, however, the access numbers have fallen again;
other locations have also been successfully expanded.
Therefore, it is currently not necessary to use the former LEA, even if this is legally possible.
