Omicron outbreak: rehabilitation clinic in Tegernsee must be cleared

The omicron wave is spreading - and has now captured the orthopedic clinic in Tegernsee.

Because there are more than 30 corona cases there, the health department has ordered the rehabilitation clinic to be cleared.

– Since the beginning of this week, there have been an increasing number of corona cases in the Tegernseer Point rehabilitation clinic.

Now the health department has pulled the ripcord and ordered the gradual evacuation of the clinic.

The first patients moved out on Thursday (January 20th).

A freeze on admissions was also imposed until further notice.

The clinic of the German Pension Insurance Bavaria South has to close completely for the time being.

Since the Omikron variant broke out, it is the first case of a clinic closure in the Miesbach district that has become public.

According to the clinic, those infected have a mild course or no symptoms at all

When asked, Felix Magin, press spokesman for Deutsche Rentenversicherung Bayern-Süd, was specific: A total of 15 rehabilitants have so far tested positive for the corona virus, and 16 employees have been affected.

"All have a mild course or no symptoms at all," reports Magin.

Hospital treatment has not been necessary so far, according to a press release that the clinic issued on Thursday afternoon.

All patients were classified as close contacts

The evacuation is to be carried out in stages.

"There are patients who can drive home themselves, others have to be picked up," explains Magin.

According to the press release from the pension insurance, all rehabilitants in the clinic were classified as close contacts by the health department.

“If possible, they should be sent to quarantine at home,” it says.

Anyone who cannot be picked up remains in quarantine in their room

A pickup by a boosted person must be ensured.

“If this is not possible immediately, the rehabilitants initially remain in quarantine in their rooms.

They will be tested (PCR) and their state of health will be monitored by a doctor from the clinic.

If necessary, those affected could also be transferred to Agatharied Hospital.
