During talks held in Moscow today, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir Abdollahian affirmed their countries' determination to continue negotiations on reviving the nuclear agreement.
In a statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that both parties “emphasized their determination to continue negotiations in Vienna with the aim of reviving the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action for Iran’s nuclear program in its original structure without any additions or exclusions,” considering that it is still one of the most important agreements in the field of non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
This meeting between Lavrov and Abdullahian comes on the sidelines of the visit of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi with a delegation of senior officials to Russia, where he held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin and discussed issues of common interest.
