A long and groundbreaking historical letter written by Adolf Kreuss, president of the Chicago Bureau of the "Independent Order of the Allies," reveals details of one of the world's largest Jewish organizations, which has been operating in secret for many years.

The letter will go on sale next week at the Zolman's auction house in Jerusalem.

The Order is a social-Jewish secret society founded in New York by Henry Jones in October 1843. The organization's founders were 12 Jewish immigrants from Germany who sought to establish a unique organization for the Jewish people.

Today, the organization has about half a million members in more than 60 countries around the globe.

The order is similar in structure to the "Masonic" order but is not related to it.

Many Masonic chambers agreed to join them in belonging to the Christian religion, so the Jews needed a separate solution.

The members of the order are called "brothers" and "sisters", and the agreement to join it is called an "act of sanctification".

The symbol of the organization - the seven-branched lamp symbolizes the foundations of light, justice, peace, charity, brotherly love, unity and truth.

Over the years there have been quite a few well-known personalities in the organization, among them Sigmund Freud who served as a member of the Allied Bureau in Vienna from 1895.

Bnei Brit occasionally awards various medals of appreciation to individuals who have worked for the Jewish people and for the State of Israel.

Recipients include David Ben-Gurion, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, Golda Meir, Stephen Harper and Helmut Kohl.

In 2005 former Austrian Chancellor Franz Vernicki won the Presidential Gold Medal and in 2006 this award was presented to former Australian Prime Minister John Howard.

In 2008, German Chancellor Angela Merkel was honored for her fight against anti-Semitism.

This year, the Bnei Brit organization will award the Jewish rescuer to the late Teddy Kollek for his work in rescuing Jews during the Holocaust.

In a letter that was unveiled, and written in 1911 by Kreuss, he deals, among other things, with the planning and invention of ceremonies that the new entrants to the various bureaus of allies in America will have to go through.

The document also deals with the matter of inventing new prayer formulas and the conditions on which issues the bureau is in no way allowed to deal with: faith and politics.
