A customer buys a value pack of coffee pads from Tchibo.

When she opens the bag, she is flabbergasted and posts an angry post on Facebook.

Hamburg - environmental protection and sustainability are becoming increasingly important in society.

Companies have also noticed this and are developing more and more environmentally friendly products.

One example is coffee capsules.

Production and disposal are not exactly ecological.

Some companies have therefore already reacted and are developing compostable capsules.

Reusable ones would be better for the environment - but still.

Customer opens Tchibo pack and is flabbergasted

Coffee pods are far less critical, after use they can be disposed of in the organic waste bin.

But not everything that glitters is gold when it comes to pads either.

The problem: the packaging.

To protect the aroma, many manufacturers pack the coffee pods individually.

A circumstance that has now really upset a coffee customer.

She had bought a large pack of 100 “Black&White” pads from Tchibo.

When she opened the bag, she could hardly believe her eyes.

Each individual pad was packed in aluminum again.

She then vented her displeasure on Tchibo's Facebook * page.

Customer is annoyed with coffee packaging: "Have you ever heard of environmental protection?"

"Dear Tchibo management, have you ever heard of environmental protection and the avoidance of packaging waste?

Unfortunately, when I bought the coffee pods, I didn't see that these were sold INDIVIDUALLY !!!!!

are packed.

Your Black&White coffee tastes good, but that's just not possible.

You have one customer less!” she wrote.

She also added seven breaking emojis to show her anger.

Tchibo, which had increased the price of coffee last year, promptly responded with a detailed comment.

The company wrote that they are "continuously working on further ecological optimization of the pad system".

For Tchibo, the "topic of sustainable packaging and recyclability is not a sprint, but a marathon." Tchibo customers have already complained about unnecessary packaging waste*.

Tchibo responds to annoyance post: "The taste in the cup is also a high priority"

At the same time, however, “the consistent quality and the taste in the cup have high priority”.

In order to protect the coffee from oxygen and loss of aroma, the pods in the value pack are individually wrapped.

To make it clear how serious Tchibo is about sustainability, the manufacturer added a link to the answer where you can read about what the company is doing in the areas of human rights, fair pay, environmental and climate protection, hunger and water shortages.

It is not known whether the customer could be soothed and continue shopping at Tchibo.

It was worse for another Tchibo customer whose purchased cassette player caught fire*.
