On the "global firepower" website, Tehran is placed in the middle of the top ten in the world, and Jerusalem is 4 places below it. • Why do the data look like this and why should they be taken on limited bail? • And also - which are the weakest countries in the world - and where is our new partner in the fight against terrorism - United Arab Emirates

Who is stronger, Israel or Iran?

If you look at the dry data, which was published this week in the annual ranking of the "global firepower" website, Tehran is the winner.

Israel is in 18th place, up from last year when it was in 20th place, and Iran maintains its 14th place in the table of world armies.

These are data similar to those obtained two years ago, in the ranking for 2020, in which Israel was in 18th place and Iran in 14th place.

Between the two rival countries this year are Indonesia, Germany and Australia, while Tehran manages to defeat Turkey, Egypt and Italy, which are in 11th, 12th and 13th place in the table.

In first place, as expected, is the United States, followed immediately by Russia, China, India and Japan, which closes the opening five.

They are followed by South Korea, France, Britain, Pakistan and Brazil in tenth place.

It should be noted that these are skewed numbers, which are not necessarily correct.

The website explains, among other things, that they do not measure the number of weapons that each country has, but their variety, and do not count nuclear capabilities.

Therefore, it is possible to understand why Israel is ranked relatively low, since other rankings use foreign publications according to which Israel has nuclear weapons - something that is not done in the current ranking.

Another reason for the distortion in the ranking stems from the basket of capabilities that each country needs.

In the past, Michael Peck, a reporter for the National Interest, one of the world's leading security magazines, referred to the problems in the ranking and claimed that there were understandable failures.

"The military comparison between Israel and Iran does not reflect the fact that Iran is far from Israel and therefore has no significance to its large army, while Israel has military capabilities to reach as far as Iran itself and harm it in various infrastructures," he wrote.

Israel in 18th place, Iran in 14th place.

The top ten of the rankings,

Since 2006, the global fire power site has ranked the armies of 140 countries around the world based on the amount of various weapons, including aircraft, tanks and ships.

But apart from these parameters, the ranking of the American site is based on dozens of other parameters such as manpower, budget, defense industry, logistical capabilities, geography and more.

As for our other neighbors.

Lebanon is in 113th place and not particularly flattering, Jordan in 75th place and Syria in 47th place.

Iraq is in 34th place and Saudi Arabia in 20th place.

Our new partner in the fight against terrorism, the United Arab Emirates, is in 36th place.

If you were wondering which countries have the weakest armies, you will find that Bhutan is the winner at the bottom of the ranking in 140th place, ahead of Kosovo, Somalia, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Suriname, Northern Macedonia, the Central African Republic, Panama and Montenegro.
