A deputy mayor of Vernon (Eure), stronghold of the Minister of Overseas Sébastien Lecornu, has been indicted for aggravated rape, AFP learned Thursday, January 20 from the Evreux prosecutor's office.
Johan Auvray was placed under judicial supervision shortly before Christmas, following a complaint filed by a woman, told an AFP correspondent Dominique Puechemaille, public prosecutor of Evreux who opened a judicial investigation.

Questioned by an AFP correspondent, the PS opposition municipal councilor in Vernon Gabriel Sino just “
confirmed that Johan Auvray has been part of the close guard of the Ouzilleau / Lecornu tandem since their victory in 2014
”. He was campaign manager for the mayor of Vernon François Ouzilleau in 2020, he added without wanting to comment on an “
ongoing legal case
”.
Johan Auvray is deputy in charge of events, youth and sports, according to the website of the city of Vernon.
He is vice-president of Seine Normandie Agglomeration for city policy, integration and sport.
Questioned by the Paris-Normandie daily which revealed the information, the elected official declared to be "
innocent in this affair
".
Johan Auvray and François Ouzilleau were not immediately available on Thursday.

According to the daily Paris-Normandie, the 42-year-old elected official, the alleged acts "
would have taken place in the private sphere
".
The complaint would have been filed the day after the alleged attack, "
a few days before Christmas
", adds the newspaper.
Sébastien Lecornu, who was mayor of Vernon (2014-2015), is currently president of the departmental council of Eure, a function which he combines with that of minister.
