Wolfratshausen – The Greens and “WOR For Future see” high potential in photovoltaic expansion.

According to the most recent evaluation of the market master data register and the solar potential cadastre of the district, Wolfratshausen brings up the rear among the cities in the region in terms of solar energy use.

City councilor Rudi Seibt (Greens) and the climate protection initiative "WOR For Future" are therefore calling on the city to massively push photovoltaic expansion on municipal properties.

Wolfratshausen currently has a kW nominal output of 5437 kW, which corresponds to 0.28 kW per inhabitant.

For comparison: in Bad Tölz the value is 0.44, in Geretsried it is still 0.38 kW.

The model in the region is Penzberg in the neighboring district of Weilheim-Schongau with a result of 0.78 kW.

"WOR For Future" points out that the expansion of photovoltaics was recommended in 2016 in an energy use plan and in 2019 by an Inola study.

"Expansion is overdue"

Rudi Seibt has been using a photovoltaic system on his roof since 2012 and has been recommending that the city draw up a solar register ever since.

"The large number of private roofs, but also the roofs of municipal houses offer great potential to improve the poor CO2 balance of our city: The photovoltaic expansion is overdue," he believes.

The city council group of the Greens, Wolfratshausen climate protection activists and private initiatives therefore cannot understand the reluctance of homeowners and commercial enterprises.

They recommend a phone call to Vivian Horngacher, the city's environmental and climate protection manager.

The city needs to do its homework.

The climate protectors propose that the use of roof areas for the generation of energy by photovoltaic and solar thermal systems on residential and commercial buildings should be determined via development plans.

For the time being, this could also be done via urban development contracts.
