The market for rural women’s products, which was opened by the Directorate of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform in Aleppo Governorate, constitutes an encouraging incentive for rural women to market their agricultural and animal products, improve the standard of living and create job opportunities by providing the opportunity to market production directly from the producer to the consumer.

Director of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Radwan Harsoni, explained to SANA reporter that the market includes about 27 pavilions displaying rural women’s agricultural and animal products, including honey, jams, tomato molasses, peppers, dried vegetables, wheat products, detergents, and some handicrafts that express heritage and folk rural folklore.

Harsoni indicated that the market breaks the commercial mediation cycle between the producer and the consumer through direct selling of the products of rural women to the consumer directly in the city, noting that the products are free of any preservatives or additives and have been analyzed by the Directorate of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection and have the required health and sound specifications, which is one of the There are 16 markets spread across the governorates, and there is a link between these markets to supply the products of each governorate.

Harsoni pointed out that the Directorate of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, through the Department of Agricultural and Family Rural Development, encourages rural families to market their products, as work has been done to provide agricultural grants to them, including irrigation networks, seeds, and manufacturing units, ending with the establishment of a market to dispose of these products to be an integrated link in bringing about rural development.

SANA’s camera toured the market’s pavilions, where the engineer, Amani Omari, head of the Agricultural and Family Rural Development Department, explained that the market comes to support rural women and help them market products directly to the consumer, as the Directorate of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform worked to provide support to participating women and transfer production to the city with the aim of encouraging women to Production and striving to deliver the product according to the Syrian standard specifications, after training the participants on the correct production method, preserving the product and packaging it so that it maintains its quality for the longest possible period without using preservatives and helping to provide types of traditional woolen and textile handicrafts.

Regarding participation in the market, Fatima Al-Saleh indicated that she came from the village of Banan in Jabal al-Hoss in the countryside of Aleppo, and she was engaged in the production of milk derivatives, cheese and milk, and the manufacture of tomato molasses and peppers. Securing the necessary transportation to transport the product and dispensing with commercial mediation through direct sales to the consumer.

Participant Shams al-Jumu’ah from one of the villages in the countryside of al-Bab showed that she works in the cultivation of vegetables, including tomatoes, where she is keen on picking and washing the fruits well to make tomato molasses, noting the rural development courses to train participants in sterilization, packaging and marketing of products in an optimal manner at competitive prices and good quality.

Nadia Taljabeni from Khan al-Asal village pointed out her participation in the market in the handicrafts of wool, vitamins and flower decorations, where she noticed a good turnout, while Karima Al-Mohammed from the town of Khanasser said that she encourages rural women to follow courses related to agricultural, animal and handicraft products and benefit from them in improving their standard of living.
