One person died and two others were injured during a shooting this Friday afternoon at the Xcaret Hotel, in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, local authorities reported.
The three victims are Canadian citizens who were staying at the hotel, which is located next to the theme park of that name, between Playa del Carmen and Tulum.
The Secretary of Public Security of Quintana Roo, Lucio Hernández Gutiérrez, indicated through Twitter that
one of the guests opened fire inside the hotel after an altercation
and then fled.

The authorities shared several photos of the suspect, in one of them he is seen with a gun pointed in front of him.
However, Mexican authorities did not immediately reveal the identity of the alleged assailant, who was dressed in sportswear: sweatpants and a gray hooded sweatshirt.
