Corona in Cologne: In two districts of Cologne, the incidence is over 1000. Gremberghoven in the south-east of the city even has a value of 1336.

Cologne – For the Cologne incidence, an incidence of 573.0 was reported on January 21 (source: RKI).

However, the actual value is likely to be even higher.

After all, there have been late reports in Cologne in the last few days, which have further increased the incidence value.

But the Corona cases are anything but evenly distributed throughout the city.

Two districts in Porz and Chorweiler in particular are currently recording negative records.

Corona in Cologne: Two districts break the 1000 mark

This means Gremberghoven and Blumenberg.

Here the city of Cologne reports incidence values of over 1000 for Wednesday, January 19. In Gremberghoven the value is 1336.4 and in Blumenberg 1076.3.

Nowhere else is the Cologne incidence so high.

But why is the incidence so high in the two parts of the city?

That is hard to say.

One possible reason, however, is the small population.

Because the smaller the population, the faster the incidence can rise and fall.

The value is calculated per 100,000 inhabitants.

This is how the incidence is calculated

To calculate the incidence, the number of corona cases in the last seven days must be divided by the number of inhabitants.

The result is then multiplied by 100,000 to give the 7-day incidence value.

But still: The incidence has risen sharply in both parts of the city.

In Gremberghoven, 41 people have tested positive for the corona virus in the last seven days alone.

There have only been 557 since the beginning of the pandemic. It looks similar in Blumenberg.

In the past seven days, 57 people have tested positive.

There are 742 in total (as of January 19, source: City of Cologne).

And in other parts of the city, too, the incidence is significantly higher than the Cologne average.

Also present: Kalk, Junkersdorf and Meschenich.

All three districts have an incidence of over 800. This is evident from the incidence map of the city of Cologne.

However, there are also districts of Cologne where the incidence is significantly lower.

A total of four districts report an incidence value of less than 350 (as of January 19).
