There was a mass outbreak of corona infections in a nursing home in Erding.

With surprising results.

– The outbreak of the corona virus in a nursing home in Erding is already under control again.

None of the 25 infected have had to go to the hospital so far.

This is probably also due to the very high vaccination rate among the residents.

This is reported by Gertrud Friess-Ott, care coordinator of the disaster control management group, in an interview with our newspaper.

"The situation is currently calm again, there is no cause for concern," said the former nursing director at the Erding Clinic.

According to Friess-Ott, the delay in test results is responsible for the serial infection.

“Everyone who comes into the house has to test themselves every day.

In addition, there are regular PCR tests.” Unfortunately, due to exhausted laboratory capacities, positive swab results arrived so late a few days ago that it was only possible to react several days later, according to the coordinator.

Corona outbreak in nursing homes: how did the virus get in?

Countermeasures were then taken immediately.

According to Friess-Ott, residents infected with the corona virus have to stay in their rooms until their PCR test is negative.

The other residents were also isolated as a precaution.

The coordinator is happy "that we don't need any external staff for containment, but that the facility can do it itself".

There are enough forces.

Basically, she praises the safety and hygiene plans of the facility and their compliance.

"It's going very well," she assures.

It is unclear how the virus got into the house.

"The residents are also allowed to go outside, for example to go for a walk or go shopping," says Friess-Ott.

On the other hand, there are visitors and third parties who come into the house.
