Many employees have been able to look forward to a bonus payment in the last two Corona years.

The Corona bonus gives companies the opportunity to pay their employees a tax-free surcharge.

But which companies used it, and who paid how much?

Munich – Employers can reward their employees with a tax-free Corona bonus until March 31.

Employees can receive up to 1,500 euros without having to give any of it to the state.

But is this extra reward paid by employers at all?

In fact, a number of companies* have already shown themselves to be very generous and delighted their employees with a surcharge.

Daimler, VW and Opel: That’s how high the corona bonus was for car manufacturers

As the

reports, numerous large companies have spent a lot of money to make their employees happy during the difficult Corona period.

Daimler

already paid its 160,000 employees a bonus of 1,000 euros in 2020. And the Wolfsburg car manufacturer

Volkswagen*

also paid 1,000 euros to 120,000 employees. Even trainees received a €600 bonus here.

Opel

, on the other hand, stated that a voluntary success bonus was paid two years in a row. However, the carmaker* did not want to reveal more information.

The employees of

Deutsche Post

and DHL did a lot during the Corona period.

Finally, online shopping experienced an unexpected boom, which meant that many more packages had to be delivered than usual. The approximately 550,000 employees twice received a bonus of 300 euros each.

Corona bonus: Retail employees received vouchers and bonuses

Retail workers have also done a good job in recent years, which is why their employers have given them extra rewards.

The Schwarz Group, to which

Lidl

and

Kaufland

belong, has paid bonuses to over 170,000 employees on several occasions.

A total of 95 million euros were paid out in bonuses in 2020 and 2021.

At

Aldi*

Nord

and

Aldi

Süd

, almost all employees received a goods voucher worth 250 euros each.

Aldi Süd employees in administration only received a voucher worth 100 euros.

There was extra money for the employees in the southern branches in November 2020 - this time not as a voucher.

Employees in sales and logistics each received 250 euros, and employees in administration received 100 euros.

In December 2021, everyone could look forward to another 100 euro cash prize.

Rewe

and

Penny

made special payments in the form of "thank you bonuses" that were booked on the employee card.

Overall, the group called an amount in the hundreds of millions.

Deutsche Bahn, Siemens, Ikea: A number of companies have paid out corona bonuses

Deutsche

Bahn*

also

rewarded its employees and paid a corona bonus to its approximately 182,000 employees.

Telekom

granted its around 100,000 employees a corona bonus of EUR 500 each in 2020.

The employees in the field service also received a year's ticket for the human campaign.

And

Siemens

also paid a total of 200 million euros as a special bonus in 2020.

At the furniture giant

Ikea

there was a total of 110 million euros for all employees worldwide.

In addition, employees in the

public sector

did not go away empty-handed.
