According to the newspaper report, anyone who has been vaccinated but not yet boosted and has to be in quarantine is at risk of losing their continued wages.

Berlin - The incidences are increasing again due to the omicron variant in Germany.

The Standing Vaccination Commission therefore recommends the booster vaccination against the coronavirus * from three months after the second vaccination.

According to the RKI, there is already insufficient protection against the omicron variant from 15 weeks after the second vaccination.

Short report: No continued payment of wages for vaccinated people without a booster

In view of this initial situation, the Bundestag lawyers come to a new assessment in a current short report. According to this, employees who have been vaccinated twice and who do not yet have a booster should no longer receive continued wage payments in the event of a possible infection and quarantine. That reports the

“The absence of the Covid 19 booster vaccination would then lead to the exclusion of the claim for compensation (...),” the newspaper quotes from the paper. Because the person concerned could have avoided the loss of work with a booster vaccination*.

The report has not yet been specifically discussed in the federal government, it is said.

However , the

claims to have learned from government circles that it could be possible to stop paying employees without a booster vaccination.

In Berlin, the paper is already causing criticism.

"Because of a night and fog decision in the Ministry of Health, millions of double-vaccinated employees could soon receive less wages in the middle of the omicron wave," tweeted Marc Biadacz (SPD), member of the Bundestag.

The federal government must "quickly create clarity and correct this mistake!", demanded the politician.

According to the RKI, 48.3 percent have received a booster vaccination so far

Since the beginning of November, employees who have to be in quarantine have been entitled to continued payment of wages.

This does not apply to unvaccinated workers.

According to the RKI, the vaccination rate for booster vaccinations is 48.3 percent (as of January 20).

This would affect millions of Germans.

Especially since numerous people who want to be vaccinated cannot yet get boosters because they are waiting for an adapted Omikron vaccine.

Companies like Biontech, Moderna and Valneva are working flat out on a suitable vaccine.
