Winter is back these days, and it's supposed to keep snowing at the weekend.

So there is good news for skiers and snowboarders from the slopes in the Schongau region.

An overview of where you can already ski and where the starting shot for lift operation is imminent.

District - Stefan Geisenhof cannot complain. On the contrary: the lift of the TSV Bernbeuren safety department has been running for two weeks. Since then, the beginner-friendly slope on the Auerberg has been very busy during opening hours. "We've got the place full," the chairman draws a satisfied conclusion. No wonder, after all, the Bernbeuren slope was the only one on which skiers in the Schongau region could indulge their hobby. Geisenhof is happy that the first ski course has already taken place.

The snow is currently "borderline scarce", but the situation should improve again soon thanks to the announced snowfall, the chairman is certain.

The lift in Bernbeuren is generally open Monday to Friday from 2 p.m., Saturday from 1.30 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m.

You can find out about the current status at any time via webcam on the ski department's website.

Lift operation on the Brombergalm may start on Sunday

The ski season has not yet started at the Brombergalm in Böbing due to a lack of snow. But that could change this weekend. If enough fresh snow falls on Saturday, "we can maybe start on Sunday," hopes operator Christoph Erhard. Interested parties can find out whether it works on the website. The small ski area, which is particularly suitable for children and beginners, offers three runs with a total length of 1700 meters.

You are also in the starting blocks three kilometers north of Steingaden at the Ilgen T-bar lift. As the tourist information of the community informed on Friday on request, the operator hopes to start on Saturday. The prerequisite is that enough snow falls overnight. If you want to be on the safe side before you arrive, you can find out more by calling 08862/342 or on the municipality's website. The ski area offers skiing fun for the whole family with the Ilgen drag lift, which leads to a 500-metre-long descent, and a small drag lift.

A size smaller is the so-called Gagras Hügel in the middle of the municipality of Steingaden, which with its tow lift is ideal for children and beginners.

According to Tourist Information, the go-ahead for lift operation was given on Friday.

If there is still sufficient snow, it is open during the week from 2.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. and on weekends from 1.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.

Current information is available on the municipality's website.

There is still a lack of snow in Schwabsoien and Hohenfurch

Skiers in Schwabsoien still need patience.

According to those responsible for the local ski club, there is currently still insufficient snow for the operation of the small drag lift north of the municipality in the "Breite Tal".

As soon as it can start, information will be posted on the club's website.

The situation in Hohenfurch is similar.

He checks the slope every day, but so far the amount of snow has not been sufficient to prepare the slope, says Markus Hefele from the local ski club.

"As soon as it is possible, we will start." Those interested can find out whether the lift is in operation at www.sc-hohenfurch.de.

The corona rules currently in force in Bavaria must also be observed when skiing in the Schongau region.

According to the infection protection regulations, a mask must be worn when queuing and in the lift, and 2G applies, children under the age of 14 are exempt from this.

The latter also applies to young people aged 14 to 17 if they present a student ID card.
