The Ministry of the Armed Forces thus sent a letter at the beginning of January to Bertrand de La Chesnais, campaign director for Éric Zemmour and “general in the second section”.
The former officer is no longer on active duty but in reserve.
As such, even if the rule is more vague than it is said, he is supposed to observe the same restrictions as his comrades in the expression of his ideas.
"Opinions are free, but they must be expressed with the necessary reservations,"
spokesman for the Ministry of the Armed Forces, Hervé Grandjean, said on Thursday.
