How do you open the weekend?
"On Fridays I get up before 6 in the morning and invest in a long walk with my dog, March, Coley, 4, in our neighborhood in Ashkelon. Then I organize my daughter Liel (11) for school and meet with some close friends regularly at the Ehrlich Cafe. Many know That I'm there and come to meet me, and it's my time to hear what people are going through. Sometimes in these meetings there is criticism, but everything is in good spirits. "Alona makes sure to light candles on Shabbat. I am an only child and my father Leon (67) lives in the US, so on Friday evenings we usually host friends or go out to stay.
When we host, Alona cooks Asian food like stir-fries, sushi and fish, and I help with tasks like peeling potatoes and washing dishes.
In other things I may only harm ... Kiddush I rarely do, but when my father comes to visit he does Kiddush with us.
After dinner we sit on the terrace, talk and also take out a guitar and sing childhood songs in Russian and also the Beatles and Shlomo Artzi.
Before going to bed, I read literature on quantum theory, a subject that interests me very much. "
Who would you like to host with you for Friday dinner?
"It's banal, but you are Albert Einstein. I would respect him in performing the kiddush and after the meal he would go out with him to the balcony to talk about physics."
Can you get some rest on Saturday?
"The phone does not ring, which gives a lot of freedom. When Alona and Liel wake up, we eat breakfast together with omelets and toasts, when what matters is the rituals of being together, because it does not happen during the week. Then we watch family movies on TV, and I make sure too. "To sit with Liel on the four main subjects: English, arithmetic, science and language. From time to time we go on a tour of the marina or a movie."
What is your recommendation for the coming weekend?
"Put the phone aside, be with the family and talk, just talk. I try very hard to do that and I have to admit it doesn't always work out."
