The CDU parliamentary group called on the state government on Monday to introduce a balanced budget to parliament.

"We have to get down from the 600 million euros in excess registrations by the departments," said parliamentary group leader Siegfried Borgwardt on Friday, referring to the current gap in the state government's draft.

One hopes for “mutual advice and insight”.

Magdeburg - Borgwardt announced that the coalition factions of the CDU, SPD and FDP also want to set their own priorities in the budget.

This “own budget” is to be discussed during the deliberations in Parliament and will total around 150 million euros for all three groups.

Finance Minister Michael Richter (CDU) recently stated that when the first joint budget was drawn up by black, red and yellow, around 550 to 600 million euros would be missing to balance the budget.

Overall, the state budget for 2022 should have a volume of around 12.7 billion euros.

In order to close the gap, "all houses" would have to make their contribution, said financial politician Guido Heuer.

"Duty comes first." Various construction measures in clinics, in prisons or with the police have priority, according to Heuer.

In addition, the CDU parliamentary group wants to make more money available for the rehabilitation of district roads.

Heuer also pointed out that personnel costs would now be more than four billion euros.

"We will have to talk about structures in the next few years," said Heuer, with a view to the budget deliberations in the coming years.

The fact that personnel costs make up about a third of the budget is “simply not affordable”.

The state government wants to decide on the 2022 budget in February in the cabinet.

This is to be brought before parliament at a special session of the state parliament in March.
