A number of accidents in a row occurred on Friday on the A93 in a traffic jam.
Five people were injured and 18 cars were involved.
Police call cause.
Regensburg – According to the Regensburg traffic police*, nine vehicles were involved in the first series of accidents.
The cars drove into each other at the Regenstauf junction in the left lane.
A little later, two more rear-end collisions, each involving three cars, occurred near the Regenstauf exit.
At a further distance of about 500 meters, there was a rear-end collision involving three cars, in which the person responsible had also recognized the end of the traffic jam too late.

Pile-up near Regensburg: the police clarify the reasons
"The cause of the accident in all traffic accidents was a too small safety distance at too high speeds in slow-moving traffic," the police explained to the BR.
Five people were slightly injured in the accident.
According to the police*, no one had to go to a hospital.
The sheet metal damage to the vehicles, on the other hand, is enormous: seven vehicles were no longer roadworthy and had to be towed away.
According to initial estimates, the total damage amounts to 175,000 euros.
At times, the backlog went as far as the Ponholz junction, and traffic was able to be guided past the accident sites in one lane.
The scene of the accident was cleared by 1:30 p.m.
After that, the backlog cleared up again.
