Seehausen – After a break in December, the Staffelsee Museum has now opened its doors again.

In addition to the permanent exhibitions, there is also a current special exhibition: Course participants from the adult education center in Murnau show their works – pencil drawings and calligraphy”.

This special exhibition ends on February 27th.

The current opening hours are Saturday and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.;

the general hygiene regulations apply.

The Staffelsee Museum in Seehausen was opened to visitors on January 27, 2018 in the old vicarage. The themes of the museum are diverse. Starting with the cultural history of the region, which dates back to the Bronze Age and began on the island of Wörth. This is based on findings that were carried out during excavations between 1992 and 1997. Likewise, all aspects of the Staffelsee for the region are illuminated; from the emergence of flora and fauna to use for fishing and its history, but also as part of the religious-historical tradition with the nationally important Corpus Christi procession. Another topic is the art of reverse glass painting as a Europe-wide special topic in art history, which is dealt with in detail in the Staffelsee Museum. Seehausen,with the painter dynasties Gege and Noder, was an important "centre" of this special painting technique.

Another hallmark of the museum are the changing special exhibitions.

In addition to the variety of themes, the facility is also dedicated to the artists in the Staffelsee area and beyond, who have had a decisive influence on the region, but whose work is not considered in the "big" museums.

At the 20th Bavarian Museum Day, the museum received the Bavarian Museum Prize 2019 in the category "voluntarily run museums".

Every two years, this prize is awarded specifically to non-governmental museums in Bavaria.

At the time, it was emphasized that the Staffelsee Museum in Seehausen "makes it possible to experience the triad of natural space, history and art that characterizes the community." It is therefore worth taking more than just a look at the museum.
