Survey: Scholz has the second best value in the traffic light government - Baerbock is far first with a negative point

According to a survey, Chancellor Scholz is in a better position than his traffic light government.

Only the satisfaction value for a minister's work is higher.

Berlin – It doesn't sound like much at first, but it is: This Friday, the federal government is meeting in the Chancellery. Cabinet meetings actually take place in Meseberg Castle, but Corona is changing the situation here too. However, it is not a normal cabinet meeting as usual. At the beginning of the year, the traffic light tries to talk about upcoming topics with a little more calmness in familiar surroundings.

And there should be a lot to talk about.

Because in addition to the G7 presidency, climate protection, the Ukraine conflict and the corona pandemic, some politicians will continue to keep an eye on the polls of the new Scholz government.

And things aren't looking rosy at the moment.

In a survey by the opinion research institute YouGov on behalf of the German Press Agency, for example, the dissatisfaction with the work of the government outweighs the respondents.

Germans find more encouragement for Scholz than for his traffic light government

And in a recent survey by the market and opinion research institute Ipsos, Chancellor Olaf Scholz can be happier than his cabinet members.

The Germans are happier with his work than with that of the federal government.

Accordingly, every fourth German citizen, i.e. 25 percent, rates the work of the chancellor as very satisfactory on a scale of 1 to 10 (i.e. with a value of 8 to 10).

18 percent appear to be clearly dissatisfied (number of 1 and 3).

On the other hand, one in five respondents (20 percent) is very satisfied with the work that the traffic light government has done so far.

23 percent express dissatisfaction.

Survey: Health Minister Lauterbach can sit in front of Chancellor Scholz

In the individual comparison of ministers and chancellors, only one department head can push ahead of Scholz: Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach (SPD).

According to the Ipsos survey, he is the most popular.

Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP), Labor Minister Hubertus Heil (SPD) and Agriculture Minister Cem Özdemir (Greens) land behind Scholz.

Development Minister Svenja Schulze (SPD) and Justice Minister Marco Buschmann (FDP) are currently receiving the least support.

The Greens ministerial team was by far the most polarizing in the breakdown.

Almost four out of ten Germans are very dissatisfied with the current work of Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock.

It is thus far ahead when it comes to dissatisfaction values.

35 percent find Özdemir's work negative, despite a fairly good ranking in the satisfaction ratings.

Environment Minister Steffi Lemke, Habeck and Family Minister Anne Spiegel also did not get off well with some.

Only Interior Minister Nancy Faeser from the SPD is rated similarly critically with over 30 percent dissatisfaction.

Notes on the survey

The market and opinion research institute Ipso conducted the survey from January 6 to January 9, 2022.

The institute surveyed 1,000 people online in Germany between the ages of 16 and 75.

The data was weighted to be representative of the voting population in Germany.

As another query shows, Klara Geywitz (SPD), who heads the new Ministry of Construction, is unknown to many.

Almost every fourth German (24 percent) states that they do not know the minister.

Education Minister Bettina Stark-Watzinger (FDP) apparently still has some catching up to do in this regard (22 percent).

In addition to all these values, the ARD “Deutschlandtrend” recently determined new party values ​​in the Sunday question.

The SPD slipped a percentage point, but still holds the lead with 25 percent.

The Union, in turn, increases by one percentage point and now comes to 24 percent.
