The great masters of thought were called Simone de Beauvoir, Maurice Merleau-Ponty, Claude Levi-Strauss, Roland Barthes, Michel Foucault. Only the centrists François Mauriac, Raymond Aron and Jean-François Revel were tolerated on an ideological folding seat
