A year after the first regulars' table, the trade officers of the Starnberg City Council drew a conclusion on the successes of the past year - and presented their goals for this year.

Starnberg – If you need a TV cable or a lightbulb, you will look in vain in the center of Starnberg. There are medical practices, real estate agents and architectural offices in many corners. "I see this with great concern," said trade officer Anke Henniger (FDP) on Wednesday at a press conference in Tutzinger Hof. "It's a horror that the city center is getting emptier and emptier." In order to counteract this development, she and her colleagues Rudolf Zirngibl (CSU) and Stefan Kandler (BMS) did a lot last year, and this year some ideas are in Planning.

"A year ago we founded the regulars' table for the Starnberg retail trade," said Henninger.

"It used to take place once a week, now we meet once a month." In addition to around 25 tradespeople, the business development agency gwt and the three business consultants, the city initiative is also part of the regular meetings.

"The city initiative has completely reorganized itself and implemented things like the Santa Claus campaign, in which gingerbread was distributed." The next project is the city knights.

Experts come to Starnberg for a day and make suggestions on how the industry could improve.

With the poster campaign "Be loyal, buy local", which started in March 2021, locals were specifically advised to do their shopping locally.

"We were able to get faces like District Administrator Stefan Frey, skier Kira Weidle and Mayor Patrick Janik on board," said Henniger.

The business officers are particularly proud of the revival of the Saturday market.

"The food trucks invite you to linger," said Zirngibl.

The highlight was the delicacy market in September.

“It was so well received that we have planned some of them again this year.

During the Oktoberfest there should be a Wiesn market on the church square," said Kandler.

Another project of the speakers is the long night of shopping at the end of May. "Shops are allowed to open until midnight, and stalls in the city should provide people with drinks and food," says Henninger. In general, the three would like longer and uniform opening times. "If you go to Maximilianstrasse on Saturday afternoon, one shop is still open and the other is already closed," said Kandler. The desired opening times of the speakers: weekdays until 7 p.m., Saturdays until 4 p.m.

The speakers want to improve the problem of vacancies with real estate management.

Owners and interested parties should contact the city if they want to rent or rent a business.

"In this way, the high rents that are charged for internet platforms can be avoided," said Zirngibl.

A working group is to deal intensively with the topic.

"The project is still in its infancy," said Heninger.

However, she was positive about the future.
