Unterallgäu: Numerous investment measures planned for district buildings

The new specialist academy for social education in Memmingen started operations in September 2021.

Unterallgäu - The district office in Mindelheim is to be increased, the new technical academy in Memmingen is to be completed: the structural engineering office at the Unterallgäu district office wants to implement various construction measures again this year.

In a joint meeting of the district and building committee, department head Thomas Burghard presented the investment measures planned for the district buildings this year.

Both committees unanimously endorsed the plans and recommended that the district council make the necessary funds available in the district budget.

• The expansion of the district office

  by a fourth floor

  is to be tackled this year .

  Additional jobs are to be created on the new floor, and a photovoltaic system is planned for the roof.

  According to the current status, the total costs for the increase, including the PV system, amount to 3.2 million euros.

  In addition, fire protection is to be further strengthened in the district office.

• The new

  specialist academy for social education in Memmingen

  started operations in September 2021. Since then it has been possible to train as an educator there. However, some of the teaching still takes place in the rooms of the vocational school for child care, which is located in the same building. Because the academy's own four specialist rooms still have to be renovated. The work, with a total cost of around 630,000 euros, should be completed by the start of the new school year. The specialist rooms are located in a part of the Mindelheim vocational school branch office in Memmingen that has not yet been renovated.

• At the

  special educational support center in Mindelheim

  , the former caretaker's apartment is to be converted - provided the school, culture and sports committee approves the plans. The conversion is to be prepared in planning this year, as the school has additional space requirements due to the obligation to provide all-day care from 2026. In addition, further fire protection measures and the conversion of the fire alarm system are planned.

• As

  part of a school project

  at the

  state vocational school in Mindelheim

  , a carport for an electric station wagon and a garbage enclosure are planned.

  In addition, photovoltaic systems will soon be installed on the main and auxiliary buildings.

  A feasibility study is to find out how one of the two dormitories of the Bad Wörishof branch of the vocational school will continue.

  This should clarify whether a renovation or a new construction of the container building makes more sense.

  It should also be clarified whether premises for an open all-day school could be accommodated in the dormitory.

• Fire protection is to be further improved in the

  college building in Mindelheim

  .

  The installation of an escape staircase and the further fire protection upgrade of the museum entrance are planned for this year.

  Further measures are to follow in the coming years.

• A large measure in the district senior citizens' home in Türkheim

  casts its shadow ahead

  .

  The first plans for a general renovation of the east wing are to be made this year and presented to the district committees.

• In addition to the projects presented, there are a large number of

  measures for building maintenance

  , as part of technical building management or at the three district senior citizens' homes.
